CHALLENGE

As Akurateco's payment orchestration platform expanded, its documentation had to support multiple payment protocols, authentication methods, SDKs, plugins, and integration workflows.

The documentation no longer reflected the maturity of the product. Developers often needed guidance from support teams during implementation, while prospective customers lacked confidence during their first interaction with the platform.

When we asked Yuliia Chukhno, Chief Product Officer at Akurateco, about the biggest challenge, she said:

More tech support and Account management team load + less trust to the product from potential clients - Yuliia Chukhno, Chief Product Officer, Akurateco

SOLUTION

Hackmamba redesigned the documentation around the way developers actually build integrations instead of simply documenting APIs.

  • Audited the existing documentation and rebuilt the information architecture around developer workflows.
  • Introduced a Quickstart experience that guides developers from sandbox credentials to their first successful payment.
  • Created dedicated implementation guides for Checkout, Server-to-Server Card, Server-to-Server APM, Hosted Payment Fields, SDKs, and Plugins.
  • Added supporting resources including authentication, testing, troubleshooting, API error references, changelog, concepts, glossary, and AI-powered documentation assistance.
  • Delivered the documentation in both English and Spanish.
  • Worked with the Akurateco product team through weekly review cycles to continuously validate technical accuracy.

When we asked why Akurateco chose Hackmamba for the project, Yuliia explained that previous experience in payment infrastructure gave the team confidence we could move quickly.

Experience in the same domain, specifically Flutterwave so we expected that HMB team to dive into our system faster - Yuliia Chukhno, Chief Product Officer, Akurateco

RESULTS

The biggest transformation was how developers experience Akurateco's documentation from their very first visit. Instead of landing on a collection of API references, developers now follow a structured journey that takes them from onboarding to their first successful payment.

A developer-first entry point

The new homepage gives developers a clear place to start, with Quickstarts, integration guides, API references, and supporting resources organized around the implementation journey rather than individual endpoints.

The redesigned developer portal provides a clear path from onboarding to implementation.

Clear integration paths

Rather than navigating multiple API references, developers can now choose the payment flow that matches their implementation requirements. Each protocol includes dedicated guidance explaining when to use it, implementation requirements, and links to the relevant API documentation.

Dedicated implementation guides help developers choose the right payment protocol before writing code.

Faster onboarding

Once developers select an integration path, the Quickstart walks them through the complete setup process, including sandbox credentials, authentication, Postman collections, request signing, payment session creation, and testing.

The Quickstart takes developers from sandbox setup to their first successful payment using production-ready examples.

Requirements

Akurateco needed a partner to redesign its developer documentation into a modern, developer-first experience that reflected the quality of its payment orchestration platform. The engagement included documentation strategy, information architecture, Quickstarts, protocol-specific implementation guides, multilingual technical writing, and supporting resources that help developers integrate with confidence
